Fear Death? Stop It! The Church Trained Us for Ulterior Motives…

As I said, after my dad had Near Death Experience, he was very different. He shocked me when he said, “death has nothing to do with religion…it’s only about love and none of us has anything to worry about when we die.” He said it was bliss and serenity beyond description.

This statement was light years out of Dad’s cosmos. Understand, this is a radical departure from all religious history. Religion has always taught us to fear god and death via judgment and condemnation. Bishop John Spong concedes, “The church has always been in the guilt producing, control business and dangled us between their imaginary heaven and hell as a control tactic.”

6a

Young adults see it, and are over being controlled by the church. New to mankind is this belief we’ll enter a blissful light with relatives and friends helping us. Remarkably, the new “Going into the Light” paradigm has abruptly replaced 1700 years of the church’s judgment scenario.

We don’t seem to grasp the earth shattering significance of this societal shift that’s suddenly occurred in our short lifetime. Now most believe they’ll just pass into a loving light when they die. People know the church is dying, but haven’t correlated its decline with the rise of NDE acceptance. According to Barna research, only 3% of young adults now believe in Satan, judgment or Christianity. If they don’t believe in judgment and Satan, the church says they’re not Christians.

The Southern Baptist Convention is keenly aware of the threat… In the wake of churches and Christian universities reveling in the popular surge of NDE heavenly experiences and “Heaven is For Real” best selling books, the SBC abruptly forbade any Baptist participation, declaring it in direct conflict with scripture and Christianity…that it’s “unrelated spirituality.” And rightfully so… they have their reason to forbid the NDE phenomenon. If everyone just passes into bliss and serenity, nobody’s going to need the church to save them from their biblical fear of judgment and Satan.

And yet, for Christians, the NDE blissful death revelation actually agrees with the teaching of Christ.

His two commandments were that, “God is a god of love, and that we should love and help those less fortunate than ourselves.” Accordingly, original Jewish Christianity was only about love and brotherhood. Original Christianity had no fear of judgment, Satan or hell for 300 years. Roman centurions were stunned that Christians were “oddly” calm when executed. If we believe his simple message that God is love, like Jewish Christians, we wouldn’t be afraid of death either. Judgment, Satan and brimstone were actually pagan religion added to the faith by the Romans 300 years after Christ! Judgment and brimstone were Paul’s contribution long after Christ died.

Thomas Jefferson said, “The church perverted the purest religion ever preached by terrifying the masses for the purpose of gaining wealth and control.” The Romans changed the religion with their Hades threat and codified that revision in their Roman published bible as a control tactic.

Joseph Ratzinger (pope) quit his first seminary, because they conceded “there were two separate and opposing Christianities in the second century. The first was the forbidden Jewish Christianity of Jesus and the second was the gentile ‘Roman Christianity’ of Paul. They noted that Paul was indifferent to the teaching of Christ and the opponent of the religion of love Christ came to announce to the world.” (Catholic Encyclopedia) The greatest paradox may be that Christianity is the largest religion due to its brimstone threat, when Christ never uttered a word about it. That’s why Jefferson said, “Paul was the first corrupter of the teaching of Christ.”

Christianity evolved into a religion that taught us to fear God and Judgment Day. “All must come before the judgment seat of Christ.” (Corinthians) They changed Christ to being the pagan god model of wrath and vengeance to keep the citizens controlled with fear. The church knows fear is the greatest motivator and has prospered utilizing this culture of fear… They used it to motivate the masses to buy enough indulgences to build the world’s largest cathedral, St. Peter’s Basilica. Martin Luther was so repulsed, he risked being burnt, protesting that evil practice.

This wasn’t the teaching of Christ… Fear is the opposite of love. Fear was the message of Paul and the Romans. The Jewish Christianity of Christ was the opposite of the Roman Christianity of Paul.

It’s hard to believe that Christ’s message was so simple… It’s sad most won’t understand until they die… God is only love, so death is nothing to worry about. Early Christians couldn’t read or write, but they got it. We’re educated, but we don’t have a clue… so we live our lives worried about dying!

Millions have already experienced this modern revelation since Raymond Moody discovered the Near Death Experience in 1975. Now there’s a tsunami of NDE confirmation from people all around us… swept from the brink of death by defib resuscitation everyday. Ask them…they’ll say it was bliss and serenity… and they’ll never fear dying again.

Google their feed back…it’s endless. You can free yourself by finding and learning from people who’ve had Near Death Experiences. Just do it! Anything you can do to get rid of fear will improve the quality of your life.

Of course, the Southern Baptist Convention condemns this emerging spiritual perspective. This is why Parade Magazine says 24% have left church and are moving toward the new “Spiritualism” in America. (10/4/09)

    1. Maryellen… Wonderful to hear from you! You made my day too! I worried my whole life about dying, and going to church just made my fear worse. My dad had a Near death Experience that freed me from this phobia. He never lied in his life, and could not make up his wonderful account of his NDE. When he died later, I gave the eulogy at the funeral and entitled it “My gift from my dad.” He freed me to enjoy my life! Hope you have a better life for it to! Many thanks, Brad

  2. Hello Web Admin, I noticed that your On-Page SEO is is missing a few factors, for one you do not use all three H tags in your post, also I notice that you are not using bold or italics properly in your SEO optimization. On-Page SEO means more now than ever since the new Google update: Panda. No longer are backlinks and simply pinging or sending out a RSS feed the key to getting Google PageRank or Alexa Rankings, You now NEED On-Page SEO. So what is good On-Page SEO?First your keyword must appear in the title. Then it must appear in the URL.You have to optimize your keyword and make sure that it has a nice keyword density of 3-5% in your article with relevant LSI (Latent Semantic Indexing). Then you should spread all H1,H2,H3 tags in your article.Your Keyword should appear in your first paragraph and in the last sentence of the page. You should have relevant usage of Bold and italics of your keyword. There should be one internal link to a page on your blog and you should have one image with an alt tag that has your keyword….wait there’s even more Now what if i told you there was a simple WordPress plugin that does all the On-Page SEO, and automatically for you? That’s right AUTOMATICALLY, just watch this 4minute video for more information at. Seo Plugin

    1. Well you are just wonderful! Thanks you so much. Some have been very rude. I’ve certainly ruffled some feathers. I just never got over fearing death by going to church. I found out that Christians actually fear death more than others. I’m not driven to destroy Christianity… I consider myself a Christian, but felt a calling to find ways to relieve this unnecessary global fear that’s actually been inflamed by the church. It’s really not as anti church as you might think when you consider that only 3% of young adults now believe in judgment, Satan or eternal hell… I know its scripturally challenging, but if the church doesn’t find a way to back off the brimstone threat, it will be history in the very near future. Merry Christmas! And I mean it sincerely! Brad

  3. Hi Brad,

Thanks for contacting me from my website on Overcoming the Fear of Death and sharing this link to yours. Looks like we share a lot in common. Great blog post, insightful commentary on the history of the New Testament and the development of the Church.

Really thought this idea of yours was especially insightful — that Jesus’s main message that has been lost was reducing the fear of death in the world. I think this new focus will help many as they seek to live life more fully in the present, regardless of what they think may happen to them after they die.

    Warm regards,
    Kelvin Chin

    1. Greetings Kelvin… I’ve written a new section to my blog… I’d be very interested to hear your critique… But fasten your seat belt… I hope it won’t offend… As I’ve said you are more on the at large world scene of spiritualism…as you’ll see here, I’m focused more on the Christian west… As such, I’m more openly critical of the Roman churches, because I see their brimstone, judgment/hell scenario as the primary (unnecessary) cause of fear of death… I know you will remind me that spiritualists should strive to be positive about all religion…and I do try, although I draw the line here because studies have proven that the brimstone, judgment “cross to bear” of the church causes more fear and anxiety than solitude for humanity… I promise you, that if the church backed off of brimstone and the condemnation of all other religions, I would never criticize the church again… but until that time, I will remain hostile about these church issues.. Well, correct me if I’m wrong here… Many thanks, Brad O’Donnell

Happy Friday… Hey, I’ve written a new piece called, “The Christianity That was Lost in Time…” Be interested to know how it strikes you…positive or negative? Don’t candy coat your response! Many thanks, Brad

    1. OK, I’m just a daydreamer and writer who knows nothing about webmastering…but I called my webmaster cousin who built the site… (He’s incredible!) He has me miraculously hosted very cheap, but it takes a lot of internet savvy…as he has… He says, unfortunately, hosting is a barbed wire quirky jungle. It’s expensive, if you can’t navigate past the snares to sell you a lot of extras…that they all want to sell you. He got this site hosted by Go Daddy, but they try to funnel you through “FileZilla” server. BIG mistake… Chris says FileZilla exposed us to virus’ that Go Daddy later wanted to sell us “virus protection” for. Chris cancelled our contract with Go Daddy, then relisted with Go Daddy fresh and forced them to host us directly thru Go Daddy’s own server…that ended up being very cheap and we’ve had no problems at all. Chris is very suspicious of Go Daddy for not doing that in the first place…??? Chris says all these hosting servers are always manufacturing ways to screw you, then help you with expensive services. Best of luck! Really! Brad

    1. Dear nba live mobile, Believe me when I tell you, I’m not a great writer…just impassioned about this subject… Had pretty straight laced parents…loved them a lot, but at an early age, was heavily corrected as being a doubting Thomas…Brimstone and suffering in eternal Hell just never settled with me…I knew Christianity got wired wrong on this…and just couldn’t rest til I found a justification for my doubts… Thank you so much for your compliment… I have been beaten up a lot over the years…just bull headed, i guess. Yours truly, Brad

  10. This is a great tip particularly to those fresh to the blogosphere.

Brief but very accurate information… Appreciate
your sharing this one. A must read article!

    1. Kira, Thank you for dropping in and thanks for the compliment. I was an acolyte in the Episcopal church, and the more I listened to the priest about “rejecting Satan,” the more I worried about ending up in eternal pain/hell… When I learned that all our founders were “Deists” because they rejected the church’s judgment culture of fear, I decided to research solutions for dumping that negative threat of Christianity… It’s been a 40 year pursuit… I finally feel like I’m free of the baggage. I just wanted to share the things I found that freed me. I’ve recently found another related site with profound perspective you might like as well…Check it out…www.overcomingthefearofdeath.org/ Kelvin Chin

    1. Hi cheats and tips, Thanks for dropping by…You’re not alone… I’m in my 60’s and have struggled to make sense of it since I was in school. I was an acolyte as a teenager, but was frustrated that in early childhood, the church taught me that Jesus was lambs, doves and love…but at puberty, told me that he is a god of judgment, and would cndemn most to everlasting pain in hell… I couldn’t accept it…so I studied the issue the rest of my life… Turns out the last pope, Joseph Ratzinger’s seminary taught that there were two separate and opposing Christianities in the second century. The Romans destroyed the “loving” Jewish Christianity of Jesus, and established the “Roman” Christianity that was based on their traditional theology of fear and judgment to keep the masses controlled with fear. So brimstone Christianity is not the religion of love Christ came to announce to the world…Good News here, is that the hell scenario was only Roman pagan religion…And confirmed with contemporary “Near Death Experience” is that we all pass over into bliss and serenity… so don’t fear death! The early message from Christ that god is all loving and forgiving has always been true! Live, love and laugh…It’s all good! Brad O’Donnell Let me know if you have any thoughts…

    1. Hi Madden 17, The blog is starting to snowball… It had a slow start… I believe the answer is that I’m not a savvy IT blogger…I’m learning you’ve got to be an expert or pay a lot money to IT experts to get the Internet exposure (social media?) a site like this deserves… Brad

  14. Greetings! I know this is somewhat off topic but I was wondering which blog platform are you using for
this site? I’m getting sick and tired of WordPress because I’ve had problems with hackers and I’m looking at options for another platform.
I would be great if you could point me in the direction of a good platform.

    1. Hi siberian mink, I just wrote the material… My cousin, Chris, is the webmaster… I don’t know squat about IT or the Internet, but I do know we are using WordPress. Chris did tell me that WordPress was quirky… He seemed to pull out his hair more over GoDaddy… We did have a lot of problems…they were recommending many extra services, that ended up causing problems…he ended up kicking GoDaddy butt, and made them do the whole job, turnkey… and things got much better…. Although, I don’t know if we’ve been hacked or not…we are getting a lot of spam… I’ll ask Chris if he see’s WordPress as a hacking vulnerable platform… Brad

  15. Its like you read my mind! You seem to know so much about this, like you wrote the

A great read. I’ll definitely be back.

Early Christians never worried about death until the Romans introduced their pagan Satan/judgment at Nicaea in 325 AD. Yes, I got beat up a lot… called a heretic…even Satan by some, but my blog is truly what I believe…and as I’ve said, I believe what I’ve proposed is closer to what Christ taught than what the church preaches. Many polls have indicated that Christianity has caused more fear of death than helped…

I wanted to create a site that helped people escape that needless anxiety in their life. Early Christians never worried about death until the Romans introduced their pagan Satan/judgment at Nicaea in 325 AD. Forget Satan and hell…They were nothing but a pagan lie merged into Christianity by the Romans 300 years after Christ!
Thanks again for being an open minded, free thinker…objective enough to give me a chance!

    1. Welcome Neva, Glad to have you aboard…Can tell you’re an objective free thinker…bravo…The world needs more who can think outside the box! Plato said, “For those who can see beyond the shadows and lies of their culture, they will seldomly be understood, let alone, believed by the masses.” I’m sorry that others will mock your genius! That doesn’t mean you should give up! You’re just going to get a little lonely there at the top! We’ll try to keep you company at this site!

(it was super long) so I guess I’ll just sum it up what I wrote
and say, I’m thoroughly enjoying your blog. I too am

Do you have any recommendations for inexperienced blog

  24. Hi, I do think this is an excellent website. I stumbledupon it 😉 I may come back yet again since I bookmarked it.

Money and freedom is the greatest way to change, may you be rich and continue to help other people.

    1. Hey Nildara…

Thank you for believing that others could get benefit from my thesis here… I call you friend! Truly, Brad

I was an acolyte as a teenager, but was frustrated the church first taught me that Jesus was lambs, doves and love…but at puberty, told me that he was a god of judgment, and would condemn most to everlasting pain in hell. I never could accept the love/hate dichotomy of the religion. So I studied the issue the rest of my life. I learned that the last pope, Ratzinger’s seminary taught that there were two separate and opposing Christianities in the second century. The Romans destroyed the “loving” Jewish Christianity of Jesus, and re-established it as the “Roman” Christianity that was based on their traditional theology of fear and judgment to keep the masses controlled with fear. Consequently, the church’s brimstone Christianity is not the religion of love Christ came to announce to the world.

The “Good News” here, is that the judgment/hell scenario was only Roman pagan religion…and confirmed with contemporary “Near Death Experience” is that we all pass over into bliss and serenity as Christ said… We can stop fearing death!
The early message from Christ that god is all loving and forgiving has always been true! Church Roman Christianity just derailed his message. This is why Thomas Jefferson said, “The church perverted the purest religion ever preached by terrifying for the purpose of gaining wealth and control.”

Live, love and laugh…It’s all good!  Brad O’Donnell

    1. Hi Vania, Very kind!

Most Welcome! Thanks for your encouragement! I’ve been brutalized for publishing this thesis. I just had to free myself from what I always saw as church theological bondage…barring me from my true thoughts…

About 3 years ago, I just decided to let it all hang out.

Your friend, Brad O’Donnell Please watch my youtube… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PQVyZ74HmiA

  32. I have been browsing online more than three hours these days, but I by no means discovered any fascinating article like yours. It is beautiful worth enough for me. In my opinion, if all site owners and bloggers made excellent content as you probably did, the net will probably be a lot more useful than ever before.

    1. Hi Ronfeldt,

You’re very kind! The content is original…I created it and wrote it…and my cousin, Chris Park, is an amateur, but promising webmmaster who did the graphics for free because I had no money to pay a professional service… We’ve gotten a lot of compliments… He also did the site because he got excited about the concepts here…so he offered to to do it… talk about family love…I’m a lucky man. As unknowns and amateurs, I think we’ve fooled some top professionals with this site Please keep our little secret about the amateur part of our site! Ha!

    1. hi reagan,

      thanks so much…

Thanks for dropping by… I was an acolyte as a teenager, but was frustrated the church first taught me that Jesus was lambs, doves and love…but at puberty, told me that he was a god of judgment, and would condemn most to everlasting pain in hell.

  38. Hey just wanted to give you a quick heads up and
let you know a few of the pictures aren’t loading correctly.
I’m not sure why but I think its a linking issue.
I’ve tried it in two different browsers and both show the same results.

    1. Hey Shawn, I feel terrible about this bad picture loading thing, but we’ve gotten 1700 responses with only 5 complaints about the graphic loading anamaly. I know it’s a real problem for you five bloggers, but we are amateurs and just don’t know what to do for this small unique group. So sorry…Brad

    1. hi piccaelo,

glad to have you here! Don’t be a stranger…lets chat issues…

Thanks for your encouragement! I’ve been brutalized for publishing this thesis. I just had to free myself from what I always saw as church theological bondage…barring me from my true thoughts…

About 3 years ago, I just decided to let it all hang out. Yes, I got beat up a lot… called a heretic…even Satan by some, but my blog is truly what I believe…and as I’ve said, I believe what I’ve proposed is closer to what Christ taught than what the church preaches. 1. Hey Tosh,

      Many thanks…stay tuned…have another idea brewing…

Thx for the compliment… Hundreds have said they have never seen this thesis before… I’m starting to believe its truly never been written as you see it here… However, my favorite comment is that many say, it’s like I was “reading their mind.” The point is, I believe we’ve all pondered many of these things… it’s just that I was the only one insane enough to spell it all out.

    Keep up the excellent work!

    1. hey Lan, good to hear the iphone is working out…and picks my blog up! I’m flattered that you find something useful here… Trust me…there’s no money here, but it’s a rush when someone says they benefited from this perspective. Don’t be a stranger, your friend, Brad

  42. Hey! I realize this is kind of off-topic but I had to ask.
Does managing a well-established blog like yours take a
massive amount work? I am brand new to blogging however I do write
in my journal on a daily basis. I’d like to start a blog so I can share my personal experience and feelings online.
Please let me know if you have any ideas or tips for new aspiring bloggers.
    Appreciate it!

    1. Hey hwp,

I’m just the writer, so don’t know anything about digital graphics or IT, but on the writing…you have to be very moved by some topic first… then list all the issues you think about… Next, get on the Internet and research everything you’ve listed…read related topics that turn up with your searches… organize data word files and keep adding interesting facts relating to each category…You’ll be amazed at how quickly searched will expand your interesting publishable material! The last thing is to assemble all the interesting information in a written form in an unfolding progression that makes sense and supports your general thesis… It can actually be fascinating if you like this kind of thing.

  43. Howdy! This is kind of off topic but I need some guidance from an established blog.

Is it difficult to set up your own blog? I’m not very techincal but
I can figure things out pretty fast. I’m thinking about
making my own but I’m not sure where to begin. Do you have
    any tips or suggestions? Cheers

    1. Hi Nam, I just wrote this crazy perspective…not the webmaster…that’s my cousin Chris… He’s not a professional…just is born with this gift. Some really like his work here…saying it looks professional, but I’m afraid, we’ve just fooled a lot of people. I wish Oi could provide some guidence for new bloggers, but I think we just bumbled thru it, and it somehow flew…and we’re not sure why. sorry, best wishes Brad

    1. Hi Roffile,

We’re not the swiftest bloggers in the world…trust me. We’re on WordPress and GoDaddy, but wading thru much spam… best, Brad

    1. Hi Starla, “Feature based writing.” Thanks for that!

Thanks for your encouragement! I’ve been brutalized for publishing this thesis. I just had to free myself from what I always saw as church theological bondage…barring me from my real thoughts…

And I’ll tell you, I don’t believe I’m so creative here at all. People tell me all the time that they think I “read their mind.” I believe many of us have had these “heretical” thoughts…it’s just that most don’t have time to research the history. I just spent the time doing it…

About 3 years ago, I just decided to let it all hang out. Yes, I got beat up a lot… called a heretic…even Satan by some, but my blog is truly what I believe…and as I’ve said, I believe what I’ve proposed is closer to what Christ taught than what the church preaches. Many polls have indicated that Christianity has caused more fear of death than helped…

I wanted to create a site that helped people escape that needless anxiety in their life.

I’ve been called “heretic,” Doubting Thomas, and even Satan. Even though I consider myself a Christian, I am scary to many… However, I’m a quasi historian whom has grappled with his faith for years because of all the conflicting history I’ve learned… This blog, is sort of what was left when the smoke cleared…

  56. First of all I want to say superb blog! I had
a quick question which I’d like to ask if you don’t mind.
I was interested to know how you center yourself and clear
your thoughts prior to writing. I’ve had difficulty clearing my thoughts in getting my
ideas out. I do take pleasure in writing but it just seems
like the first 10 to 15 minutes are generally lost simply just trying
to figure out how to begin. Any suggestions or hints? Thank you!

    1. Greetings Jaunita,

I’m just the writer, so don’t know anything about digital graphics or IT, but on the writing…you have to be very moved by some topic first… then list all the issues you think about… It doesn’t have to be at one sitting. Carry a note pad while you drive, and write something down interesting when it pops in your head. Next, get on the Internet and research everything you’ve listed…read related topics that turn up with your searches… organize data word files and keep adding interesting facts relating to each category…You’ll be amazed at how quickly searches will expand your interesting publishable material! The last thing is to assemble all the interesting information in a written form in an unfolding progression that makes sense and supports your general thesis… Rewrite it by putting yourself in other people’s shoes, imagining how they may criticize your point.

It can actually be fascinating if you like this kind of thing. Since you are moved to, please break through that initial barrier….but be persistent… That’s the key…once through, it goes much easier…builds momentum. Please try! Write me again…we’ll chat more!

Thanks for the compliment… Would love to hear any thoughts you have… This is new territory and we’re all learning from each other. Nobody is wrong here!
